Hello Petite Pilates Community! Welcome back to our blog series! The summer has been flying by and this week we want to give you a few tips to finish out the summer on a high note! The summer gets busy, it gets hot and we often forget to take care of ourselves. This week I encourage you to focus on enjoying the summer and maximizing your health, in a fun and easy way. Also, this week we are doing our very first CLIENT SPOTLIGHT!!! Make sure to scroll down and learn about MaryJo's time at the studio. More information about the Level 1 and 2 Reformer classes and our summer schedule are below!

Summer Tips For This Week...

Tuesday: Try a different walking or running route. It is so easy to stick to the same routine, and that includes how we exercise. When you switch up where you are walking or running, not only is the trail more difficult(because it is new) but you see beautiful views. Wednesday: Stay hydrated!! Which means drinking lots of water AND eating salt or drinking electrolytes. Without salt or electrolytes, your body does not absorb the water properly. Salt helps replenish those electrolytes you lose from sweating, which helps for better water absorption and preventing dehydration.

Thursday: Work out in the early morning or the evening to avoid the hottest part of the day. It is best to work out when the sun is not blazing, that way you are able to work the hardest in conditions that will not harm you. If that does not fit into your schedule, try working out indoors.

Friday: Workout on the water. We are all so lucky to live in Madison and have water so close by. In the heat, you can find your exercise by playing in the water. Go for a swim in the pool. Rent a paddleboard or kayak for an hour and paddle/row to strengthen your muscles.

Saturday: Wear sunscreen & reapply! Everyone loves a good tan, but it is important to remember to keep our skin safe. If you put on sunscreen to begin the day, do not forget to reapply! Make sure to notice the ingredients of the sunscreen you choose in order to buy the one with the least amount of chemicals.

Sunday: Cook a healthy dinner with your family! To finish off the week before work starts on Monday, buy some fresh vegetables, meat or whatever your kids love to eat and have them help you cook. Sit outside if you can and enjoy the delicious meal you enjoyed making with your family.

Monday: Sunrise walk or workout. The morning sunrises in Madison are beautiful and this is a perfect way to start your week. Go outside, walk around and find the best view of the sunrise. Or grab your computer, set up a workout class and stretch, meditate or sweat outside to start your week off right.

Our first client spotlight!! Meet MaryJo Hauser!

MaryJo has been working with Candace for almost 3 years, before Candace even started her own studio! MaryJo loves her private sessions with Candace and enjoys trying all different pieces of equipment and exercises. Like most when beginning their fitness journey, MaryJo was quite nervous to try something new but knew that she wanted to become more flexible and improve her posture through Pilates. One day, MaryJo saw an ad for Petite Pilates in the local paper. MaryJo recalled that the ad "'specifically stated 'people of all ages and abilities' and I said that's for me. When I met Candace, I knew I was in the right place". MaryJo continues to come back because she is reaching her goals, largely thanks to Candace. The studio helps her feel stronger in her core, more flexible, happier, and more positive during the day. When talking about what makes the studio so worth coming back to again and again, MaryJo said, "To me, Petite Pilates is Candace. I love that Candace is knowledgeable and sensitive and flexible as to adjusting movements to my physical needs. She is warm and welcoming"

Level 1 & Level 2 Classes:

Just a reminder about the Level 1 and Level 2 Reformer Classes! The important note is that Level 1 classes are open to all and Level 2 classes are invite only! But in both classes, you will strengthen your mind and body. The reformer challenges you with different movements, lengthening your muscles and making you stronger.
